The fifth annual Northeastern State University (NSU) Trumpet Festival was held February 4, 2012 in the NSU Jazz Lab in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The featured clinician was Vince DiMartino, international soloist and Matton Professor of Music at Center College.
Keith Johnson, Regents Professor of Trumpet at the University of North Texas, was the Artist in Residence on Saturday January 21st at the inaugural Fort Lewis College Brass Summit in Durango, Colorado.
The University of Kansas School of Music continued with the "Brass/Percussion Master Series" in 2011, sponsored by Reach Out Kansas Inc.
The UNCSA ITG Clifford Lillya Brass Symposium took place on January 15 and 16, 2012. The event was a tribute to Mr. Lillya and to highlight his solo, orchestral and ensemble music library, which his grandson Erik Lillya offered to Judith Saxton for use in her studio. Saxton, her students and colleagues utilize this resource in both teaching and performing.
